20,000 US troops headed for Europe, not aimed against any particular country

Published 2020-02-21 17:46:16 by Tom Winter in Eu, Germany, United-States

La Lettre Patriote  Translator note: What I like about reading French reports about NATO exercises is what Facebook users call “sarcasm font.” It’s there, right under the surface. The French can afford it — I always remember: France, thanks to Charles DeGaulle, still has no US military bases. We generally forget there are about 9,000 American soldiers permanently stationed in Europe. But this is nothing prepared to what’s coming. Sweetly, gently [Doucement!], the number of these soldiers is going to crescendo, to culminate in May. As of now, 20,000 American soldiers are expected to participate in a military exercise soberly… Continue ->

RIYADH/SANA’A – The Saudi-led coalition has transferred hundreds of al-Qaeda terrorists to Ma’arib province in northern Yemen as a desperate measure in an attempt to hold the area for as long as possible. The Wahhabi kingdom and its coalition partners have recently suffered a series of defeats in Yemen. The Saudi-led coalition resorted to al-Qaeda terrorists after heavy defeats in the 9th Front which cleansed their forces and liberated a large number of points in Ma’arib and al-Jouf provinces by the Yemeni army, the Arabic-language al-Masirah news channel quoted an informed source as saying on Wednesday. WASHINGTON, D.C./BEIJING – United States President Donald Trump unloaded on a series of measures that would restrict the sale of American goods to China, saying national security is “no excuse for disrupting business”. Meanwhile, Chinese imports remain penalized.  “The United States cannot, and will not, become such a difficult place to deal with in terms of foreign countries buying our product,” Trump tweeted on Tuesday, adding, “including for the always used National Security excuse,” RT reported. “I have seen some of the regulations being circulated, including those being contemplated by Congress, and they are ridiculous. Iraqi MP: US Embassy Turned into Den of Spies

BAGHDAD/WASHINGTON, D.C. – A senior Iraqi lawmaker blasted Washington for interference in Iraq’s internal affairs, saying that the United States embassy in Baghdad has turned into the den of spies and not a diplomatic building. “The US embassy in Baghdad has turned into a den to orchestrate crisis inside Iraq. A number of individuals who create chaos in Iraq are led from inside the US embassy,” member of Sadeqoun coalition at the Iraqi parliament Hassan Salem said in an interview with the Arabic-language al-Ma’aloumeh news website on Tuesday. He added that the US mission has been carrying out intelligence and… Continue ->

DAMASCUS – Syrian President Bashar al-Assad congratulated the Syrian nation and government forces over major territorial gains made in the country’s embattled northwestern province of Aleppo following intense battles with foreign-sponsored militants, emphasizing the achievements do not mark the end of the campaign against terrorism that has plagued the country.  “When the city of Aleppo was fully liberated back in [December] 2016, I highlighted that the status quo will not be … the same as it used to be. I well knew that Syrian Arab Army soldiers are fighting wholeheartedly, and the patriotism of Aleppo residents together with their sense… Continue ->
