Trump Impeachment: A brief reality-based run-down on the whys and wherefores

Published 2019-12-21 16:48:34 by Joe Hargrave in Anglo-5, Headline-News, Opinions, United-States

Okay, so it occurs to me that not everyone here fully understands why Trump was impeached or what impeachment means. So here is the run down, if you want my take: Trump was impeached by the House Democrats for “abuse of power” and “obstruction of Congress.” Here are my bullet points on that. 1. “Abuse of power” and “obstruction of Congress” are not actual crimes. Why this matters: some criminal charge has always been an article of impeachment in the past. For example, Bill Clinton was charged with perjury, which is a crime. 2. Strictly speaking, impeachment does NOT need… Continue ->

BAGHDAD/WASHINGTON, D.C. – Medical authorities in the al-Anbar province in western Iraq report a sharp rise in the number of registered cases of a cancer diagnosis as a result of the US military’s use of banned munitions at the time of the invasion and the later occupation of Iraq. “The radiation of prohibited ammunition used during the US invasion and the later occupation of Iraq is the most important cause for the heightened number of cancer patients in the al-Anbar province,” an oncologist in the western Iraqi province was quoted as saying by the Arabic-language Afaq news channel on Wednesday…. Published 2019-12-21 11:00:57 by Drago Bosnic in Anglo-5, Eurasia, Finance, Headline-News, Politics, Russia, United-States

MOSCOW/WASHINGTON, D.C. – Moscow will reciprocate Washington’s new sanctions that are introduced against the country, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at his traditional annual news conference on Thursday, when commenting on reports that US Congress approved a large package of anti-Russian sanctions on December 18. “Of course, this will affect the level of our interstate relations, of course,” Putin stated, according to TASS. “We know their approach, which is that the United States will work with us where it is interesting and profitable, and at the same time will hold back Russia with the help of decisions of this kind…. MAJOR: Seoul, Washington Fail to Agree on Cost of US Extortion Racket

Published 2019-12-21 10:00:57 by Drago Bosnic in Anglo-5, Defense, Eurasia, Finance, Headline-News, Nato, North-Korea, Politics, South-Korea, United-States

WASHINGTON, D.C./SEOUL – South Korea and the United States failed to agree on Seoul’s “contribution” towards hosting some 28,500 US troops, but the US side hinted after the two days of talks ended that it will no longer stick to its $5 billion demand. No deal by December 31, when the current agreement expires, may result in a repeat of last year when the two countries missed a year-end deadline but reached a retroactive deal in the new year. The two sides next meet in January in the United States, according to Reuters. US President Donald Trump has accused South… Continue ->

Russia: Nord Stream 2 Will Be Completed Despite US Sanctions

Published 2019-12-21 09:00:33 by Drago Bosnic in Anglo-5, Eu, Eurasia, Finance, Headline-News, Nato, Politics, Russia, United-States

MOSCOW/WASHINGTON, D.C. – The US’ sanctions will not suspend the construction of the Nord Stream 2 pipeline, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Wednesday. “We assure you that the project (Nord Stream 2) will be completed,” he stated when asked whether the US’ sanctions might suspend the creation of the gas pipeline, TASS reported. Possible US sanctions against Nord Stream 2 violate international law and present a perfect example of unfair competition, according to Peskov. “Such actions [US sanctions] are a direct violation of international law, they present an ideal example of unfair competition and spread their artificial dominance… Continue ->

EGOTISM KILLS US, BUT HUMILITY GIVES US LIFE

Published 2019-12-21 08:00:49 by Guest Author in Faith, Headline-News

By Monk Moses of the Holy Mountain – The more one humbles himself, the easier and more natural obedience becomes for him. From my humble spiritual experience I have learned that it is much easier to lead a spiritual life with humility, and that grace is given to the humble. Lack of humility leads to strife, confrontation, hidden motives, prejudice and stubbornness. All these things make the monastic life more difficult, and it becomes darker than the color of our ryassas. Though all of these things are trivial and unimportant, they are nothing but selfishness and remnants of pride. These passions, like… Continue ->
