Composer of Meadowlands (Polyushko Polye) was assigned to assassinate Hitler

Published 2019-11-07 19:28:43 by Tom Winter in Russia

To the western ear, nothing makes one think “RUSSIA” more than Meadowlands, Polyushke Polye. When I first heard it, in the 1967 action film In Like Flint, starring James Coburn, I didn’t know what it was, nor did I know the composer (uncredited, as usual!) but I knew it meant RUSSIA, as the film makers intended. Other films using it to evoke Russia include Russian Roulette, Cast Away, The Victors… The earliest use of it in the west (uncredited) occurs in the 1948 Marlene Dietrich film A Foreign Affair. Few know that Lev Knipper, who captured and represents the Russian… Continue ->

MOSCOW – Russia will continue to increase defense potential, but is ready for disarmament, Putin said. “Our army and navy have proven their readiness, and we intend to increase their defense potential by putting into service hypersonic, laser, and other weapon systems that other countries do not yet have,” Vladimir Putin said during a meeting with senior officials and prosecutors. Russian President stressed that, however, for Russia “this is no reason to threaten others.” “On the contrary, we are ready to do everything that is up to us to encourage the disarmament process, also taking into account our latest weapon… Continue ->

CARACAS – According to the Venezuelan Foreign Minister, recent actions by Washington demonstrate that the White House “does not respect international rights or human rights.” Venezuelan Foreign Minister Jorge Arreaza has rebutted the new sanctions imposed by the US State Department against five Venezuelan officials, saying the US is led by a “warrior, supremacist and undemocratic elite.” On Wednesday, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo tweeted about Venezuela’s Executive Order Blocking Goods and Interests. In August @RealDonaldTrump signed an Executive Order blocking property & interests in property of the illegitimate Maduro regime. Today we identified 5 Maduro-aligned officials under this… Continue ->

Is the US in Iraq because of China and not Iran?

Published 2019-11-07 15:30:45 by Paul Antonopoulos in Anglo-5, China, Eurasia, Headline-News, Iraq, Mena, United-States

Commenting on the growing cooperation between Iraq and China, Middle East expert Daniel J. Samet wrote an article for The Diplomat on the reasons for the US presence in Iraq. Washington-Tehran relations have been rife with suspicion, tension and accusations for decades. Against this background, the US has justified its military presence in Middle Eastern countries, such as Saudi Arabia. In addition, despite Baghdad’s dissatisfaction , the US government maintains troops in Iraq claiming to combat terrorist groups. In his own article written on The Diplomat portal, Daniel J. Samet analyzes what, in his view, would be the real reason… Continue ->

Misery in Brazil hit record high

Published 2019-11-07 14:30:42 by Paul Antonopoulos in Brazil, Headline-News, Latin-America

BRASILIA – A survey released by the IBGE on Wednesday revealed a record increase in the number of Brazilians in poverty, reaching 6.5% of the population in 2018. According to a study by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), 13.5 million Brazilians lived on less than R$145 per month over the past year. This figure considers the World Bank’s rating to mark the extreme poverty line, that is, people with incomes under $1.90 a day, which is about $145 a month. The survey also shows that the gradual improvement of economic indicators in 2018 did not curb the… Continue ->

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The opposition Democrats claimed an upset win in the state of Kentucky on Tuesday over a Republican governor backed by President Donald Trump, and seized control of the state legislature in Virginia, where anti-Trump sentiment in the suburbs remains a potent force. The outcomes of Tuesday’s elections in four states, including Mississippi and New Jersey, could offer clues to how next year’s presidential election could unfold when Trump will aim for a second four-year term, Reuters reported. In Kentucky, Democratic Attorney General Andy Beshear, whose father, Steve, was the state’s last Democratic governor, scored a narrow victory… Continue ->

Published 2019-11-07 03:04:25 by Matthew Ehret in Anglo-5, Finance, Germany, Headline-News, Russia, United-Kingdom, United-States

While world’s attention is absorbed by tectonic shifts unfolding across the Middle East, and as many Americans are brainwashed to believe the 2020 elections are driven by the need to impeach President Trump, something very ominous has appeared “off of the radar” of most onlookers. This something is a financial collapse of the western banks that threatens to unleash chaos upon the world. In my last report, I discussed why the current financial system is on the verge of a 1923-Weimar style hyperinflation driven by Federal Reserve bailouts trying desperately to support a deleveraging of the $1200 trillion derivatives bubble that… Continue ->
