WASHINGTON D.C – The Russian embassy in the United States urged Washington to “curb its proteges” in Ukraine in connection with the attacks of the Ukrainian radicals against the Russian diplomatic mission in Kiev.

“We are in solidarity with our colleagues in Kiev and with the Russian consulates in Ukraine, which regularly face aggression. We urge the United States to curb its proteges – radical nationalists and neo-Nazis should be detained in Ukraine,” said the message published on the embassy’s Facebook page.

Professor of political science at Moscow State University, Andrei Manoylo, commented on the situatio.

According to a specialist, the call of the United States to “put a brake” on the Ukrainians is absolutely just. The provocation organized by the Ukrainian Security Service (SBU) using Navy ships in the Kerch Strait was a planned and coordinated action with Washington.

According to the expert, there will certainly be other actions. Especially given that Americans will send their rapid deployment forces to this region, which was announced two days ago.

“There may be a situation where Ukrainians will try to break through the Kerch Strait again on some kind of boat, barge or inflatable, and when they are stopped, we will find mixed Ukrainian and American crews there,” he said.

According to him, in this situation, first of all, Russia needs to maintain self-control and not give in to provocations, because these incidents are specially planned for Russia to respond.

“We must understand that this is not an improvisation of the Ukrainian secret services – it is a combination of multiple passes. It would be good to calculate this combination and act in the opposite direction to the plans of Kiev and Washington,” Andrei Manoylo said.

In his view, the situation of growing neo-Nazism in Ukraine worries not only Moscow. Many countries are interested in completely ending the “nest” of neo-Nazis in Ukraine. First of all, the Russian Federation. A significant number of other countries that observe what is happening in Ukraine support the position of Russia.

In addition, there are even forces in the US that are ready to fight against the resurgence of Nazism in Ukraine. Public opinion in the US is expressed in quite different ways and not always in support of the political line being followed by the American authorities. These are once again trying to pass the Ukrainians as harmless local nationalists who pose no threat to the world and global international security.

“Now, when Ukrainian neo-Nazism, which won as a result of the Euromaidan, begun to cross the geographical borders of the country, it is becoming clear even to the Western public who exactly came to power in Ukraine in 2014,” added the political scientist .

According to him, people are seeing that there is no such Nazism or fascism that stays for too long within the national borders of a single country – there will necessarily be expansion. “We are seeing this expansion now,” believes the scientist.

On November 25, three ships of the Ukrainian Navy, Berdyansk, Nikopol and Yany Kapu, in violation of Articles 19 and 21 of the UN Convention on Maritime Law, crossed the Russian border. The ships carried out dangerous maneuvers for several hours without reacting to the demands of the Russian vessels accompanying them.

A decision was made to use weapons. The Ukrainian ships were detained. During the incident, three Ukrainian military personnel were slightly injured. They have received medical care and are not at risk of life. Russia has opened a criminal case for breaching the border.

On Monday, after the incident with Ukrainian ships in the Kerch Strait, the Supreme Rada (Ukrainian parliament) approved the decision to impose martial law for a period of 30 days, covering different parts of the country, a decision supported by the President Pyotr Poroshenko.
