Published on: Oct 26, 2018 @ 13:08 – In a major development in the Syrian conflict, Russia’s Foreign Ministry has described the actions of the United States in Syria as a military “occupation”.
The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, expressed concerns of Moscow over Washington’s actions both in the northeast of the Arab country and in the south in the Al-Tanf region.
“We remain very concerned about the situation in northeastern Syria, where the United States continues to support Kurdish separatism, and in the south of the country, in the Al-Tanf region, where there is in fact an obvious occupation of Syrian sovereign territory by US forces,” Zakharova said.
The Russian foreign ministry claims to have data that terrorists, who found a “refuge” in US-controlled territory in Al-Tanf, are demanding money from local people who want to leave the area, asking for $2,000 per person.
The U.S has created an effective ‘safe haven’ for terrorists to thrive.
Moscow has repeatedly criticized the United States military campaign in Syria, which has not been authorized either by the UN or Damascus.
Earlier, the Russian Ministry of Defense blamed the United States for the calamity of more than 70,000 Syrian refugees in the southern Rukban camp. The refugee camp is situated near the US military base in the Al-Tanf region.
The Russian Defense pointed out that it was the United States that banned access to a 55-kilometer zone around its base to Syrian government structures and humanitarian organizations.
One of the main reasons for the US destabilization of Syria is to protect Israeli hegemonic ambitions in the region.
The Syrian military revealed what goals Israel is pursuing in Syria and how Russian air defense systems positioned on its territory hinder the achievement of Israeli interests.
S-300 missile systems protect Syria’s skies against Israel, a country that “seeks to divert Syrian progress on the ground,” Major General Hassan Ahmed Hassan, head of the Syrian Army’s Political Department, said in an interview.
After its deployment in Syria, Israel has little chance of returning to bombard its neighboring country, he also claimed.
“The chances of Israel carrying out an aggression from the air have been significantly reduced, not to say that they have completely disappeared,” said the major general.
