Venezuela promises ‘another Vietnam’ for US

0 2,008

The president of the Venezuelan National Constituent Assembly, Diosdado Cabello, threatened the United States that they would organize “another Vietnam” in case the Trump administration decides to invade the country, reports El Tiempo.

“They do not even know how they will leave after … they will swallow dust if they try to step on our homeland… we will be another Vietnam for them , their nightmare,” he said.

Earlier, the media reported that in August last year, US President Donald Trump, at a meeting to discuss sanctions against Venezuela, asked his advisers about a possible military intervention against the Bolivarian Republic.

With this statement, he spoke at the Constituent Assembly meeting where the actions of the “traitors of the motherland” were discussed, noted the edition .

Before that, Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro called on the military to be prepared to repel the attack of the American aggression and declared on the need not to reduce the state of combat even for a second. Maduro also pointed out that Trump started talking about the possibility of a military operation against the Bolivarian Republic after the visit of the representatives of the Venezuelan opposition in Washington.

In the Foreign Ministry of Russia, they classified the scenario of military intervention in Venezuela as unacceptable, since this may only aggravate the situation in the country.

As Venezuela is a limited socialist state that is staunchly against US interventionism in Latin America, it is considered the main enemy of US imperialism in the region. Maduro is also a close ally of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad whose own country is has been struggling against a US proxy war against it since 2011.

Maduro is aiming to avoid a situation to occur like it has in Syria and has been open to dialogue to the opposition despite their continuous shunning of a political reconciliation and has openly declared for violent hostilities.
