Denis Pushilin, Chairman of the People’s Council of the People’s Democratic Republic congratulated all residents of the Republic on the holiday.

“Dear friends! It has been a long four years since the day when the Donbass, not having reconciled itself with the coup d’etat that took place in Kiev, decided to take responsibility for itself. Did we then think that this was only the beginning? Did we then think that a full-scale war would be launched against us? Did we think that they would be killing us with all the weapons available in Ukraine? Did we think that this would last for such a long time? But, could we act differently? Could we bow our heads and resign ourselves to Nazis walking around our streets? Reconcile tourselves to the history of our ancestors being grossly trampled upon? Be reconciled that our children will be ashamed of us? Of course not!

We made a very bold and desperate step, the first step. During these four years many events have passed, good and bad, but Donetsk People’s Republic is. Here are we, citizens of the Republic. We have a goal, we have someone to take care of. We have something to win for, and we will win!” he said.

On the central Artem street, traffic was limited. Security measures were strengthened in the center of Donetsk.

Recall, the proclamation of the DPR on April 7, 2014 was the peak of the Russian spring in Donetsk, along with the May 11 referendum. Two days earlier, a direct participant in these events, the public and political figure, the founder of the Donetsk Peoples Republic, Andrei Purgin, narrated the civil achievement of Donbass, the establishment of the Republic.
