RAQQA, Syria – The Popular Resistance Forces have begun a new insurgency in northern Syria against Kurdish and US military occupiers.

The pro-Syrian Army group, based within Raqqa that is controlled by the US-backed and Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), started with their first military operation by targeting an American base at Ayn ‘Eesaa 93 Legion with GRAD rockets.

The SDF, led by the Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG), last year captured Raqqa from ISIS and has since then faced continuous complaints that they harass local Arab residents and settle emptied Arab villages with Kurdish colonizers.

The same complaints are being made in Arab-majority areas of eastern Syria. It is for this reason that they also made an official announcement in Eastern Syria that says:

“We’ll go on with the resistance until we’ve cleansed all of the Syrian soil from the American occupier. Long live the Syrian republic!”
