What WTO? Trump has begun trade war – China

3 824

China will defend its interests from US policy of introducing new tariffs. This was stated at the briefing by the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China, Hua Chuning.

According to her, the trade policy of the United States harms not only China, but the whole world.

“The US by its actions harms China’s interests and its own interests, as well as damaging the whole world.” This has become a rather bad precedent, China will not watch indifferently from the side of how someone harms our interests “, the diplomat emphasised.

She pointed out that the US “ignores the rules of the WTO, ignores the strengthening of China’s protection of intellectual property rights, ignores the opinions of a fairly large business community, does not take into account the opinions of others.”

“This is nothing more than an example of unilateral actions and trade protectionism, China strongly opposes this … We are fully prepared to protect our legitimate rights and interests,” she said.

She added that the PRC is against trade wars, but “is not afraid of them and has enough confidence and ability to respond to any challenges.”

Earlier, US President Donald Trump reported the introduction of import duties on steel (25%) and aluminum (10%) , justifying this step in the interests of national security. In Beijing, Washington was called upon to abandon this decision as China declared their readiness to take retaliatory measures. The Ministry of Commerce of China published a list of 128 goods imported from the US, on which duties will be raised, unless Washington backs down.

One of the main products to be affected is soybeans.
