TEGUCIGALPA, Honduras - Clashes erupted between protesters and police in the Honduran capital of Tegucigalpa on Tuesday, after a 40-year-old man was killed during anti-government protests against electoral fraud.

Ismael Hernandez was killed in Choloma on Monday during protests over a censor law on internet and social media. Protesters gathered in front of the Honduran Congress where a heavy police presence was deployed.

Tear gas was used to disperse the enraged crowd, who responded by hurling rocks.

"We will not tire, and we will fight these four years, we are not going to give up, we are going to defeat this dictatorship," said a local protester.

Honduras has been rocked by political turmoil since the November 26 presidential elections after sitting President Juan Orlando Hernandez defeated Opposition Alliance party candidate Salvador Nasralla by 1.6 percentage points. Both men have claimed victory.
