Syria's Afrin without water as battle between Turkish-led forces and Kurdish YPG continues

February 9, 2018 - Fort Russ News - Paul Antonopoulos

AFRIN, Syria - The northwest Syrian canton of Afrin has been without water since Wednesday as battles between Turkish-led forces and the Kurdish People's Protection Units (YPG) continues to wage.

Turkish airstrikes and artillery have deliberately targeted water sources and infrastructure.

This comes as Turkish airstrikes have also hit hospiutals and other civilian infrastructure that could lead to a major humanitarian catastrophe.

Turkey launched its Olive Branch Operation against the YPG on January 20. Despite battling for nearly three weeks, Turkish-led forces are yet to make any significant advancements against the YPG.
