CARACAS, Venezuela – Venezuela celebrated National Dignity Day on Sunday and swore to vote for President Nicolas Maduro in elections scheduled for later this year.
Thousands of Venezuelans, joined by President Nicolas Maduro, celebrated the National Day of Dignity on Febuary to commemorate the 26th anniversary of the civic-military rebellion led by former President Hugo Chavez.
Venezuelan people each year commemoration the uprising of the people and the military forces against then President Carlos Andres Perez for his neoliberal policies.
The uprising was led by Chavez, who in 1992 was a military lieutenant who delivered the famous and hopeful phrase “for now” to the people and the media.
