PHOTOS: A move to stop the Turks in Manbij? US troops set up new observation points in northern Syria

MANBIJ, Syria – New photos have been released on social media of US troops setting up new defensive positions and observation points in the northern Syria town of Manbij.

This comes as Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has on numerous occasions said that his forces will take on the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in Manbij in the northern countryside of Aleppo province.

The SDF, who are led by the Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG), captured Manbij from ISIS in August 2016.

Turkish-led forces are currently battling the YPG in Afrin as they consider the militia to be a terrorist organization. The US however are close partners with the SDF and has warned Turkey on numerous occasions to not attack Manbij and called for them to stop their operation in Afrin.
