Lebanon has asked the UN Security Council to condemn Israel’s use of Lebanese airspace for strikes against Syria.

“Israel behaves aggressively and threatens stability in the Middle East.” said the President of Lebanon, Michel Aoun, who has given an order to the army to be ready “to repel any provocation” and confirmed the right of Syria to defend  itself against attacks.

Earlier, fighters of the Israeli Air Force attacked a base in Damascus in response to the launch of an Iranian drone, which entered Israeli territory, they claim. The Israeli F-16 was shot down by Syria’s air defense while the pilot was able to eject. Fragments of a device have landed in Jordan, which were identified as a Syrian missile which went off-course.

Israel claims that it does not want an escalation of the conflict.
