On the evening of February 1, Ukrainian saboteurs carried out an assassination attempt on the Defense Minister of Donetsk. “It is not ruled out that this sabotage is an attempt by Kiev to start a big war” – as stated to journalists by the Defense Minister himself, Vladimir Kononov.

“The device that the Ministry was shot from – we found. The were actually two grenade launchers but the second did not work (radio command). They had at their disposal only a few minutes, as patrols regularly examine the terrain outside. The specialists worked quickly, and they had more than one day of preparation,” Kononov said.

He also noted that there are no victims.

“When they can not win in the battlefield, they come up with all sorts of methods, and they explain that in war all methods are good.” Kononov summed up.

The press service of the Ministry of Defense is confident that this incident may well mean that Kiev is preparing for an attack on the republics.

“This provocative action is aimed at an attempt to destabilize the situation. Also it can not be ruled out that this terrorist action is connected with the preparation for a further offensive peration,” the defense department of the republic emphasized.
