In the course of one day, events occurred that led to the cooling of relations with three countries at once: Greece, Israel and the United States.”

On February 13, Israel, represented by the special service Shin Bet, accused Turkey of supporting Hamas.

Recall that in December Erdogan convened a summit of Islamic states in Istanbul, condemning Donald Trump’s recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. Even earlier, under the pressure of Turkey, Israel had to dismantle metal detectors at the entrance to the Al-Aqsa Mosque.

The US has imposed on Turkey from all sides

Commenting on the problems in Turkey’s relations with the US, Greece and Israel, Turkish historian Mehmet Perincek speaks about the relationship of these events. In his opinion, the United States, through its allies in the person of Israel and Greece, is trying to stab Erdogan.

“The main partner of the United States in the region is Israel, and its main mercenary is the PKK, PYD and YPG (Kurdish parties and military entities). It is no coincidence that they call Kurdistan the second Israel. On the one hand if the United States in our region is the terror of fundamentalists, on the other, it’s the terror of separatists.”

The professor at the University of Istanbul notes that the US used ISIS to legitimize Kurdish separatists. As for the clashes in the Aegean Sea, the expert believes that in this issue Athens is acting “in the wake” of Washington.

“The US wants to surround Turkey not only from Syria and Iraq, but also from Greece and Cyprus.” The Cyprian, the Aegean, and the Syrian are not separate issues, they are all parts of American plans,” Perincek said.

Whether Turkey will be able to break free from the embrace of the “American anaconda” will depend, in part, on how its relations with Russia will develop. Deliveries of Russian S-400s are the first step that gives Ankara an out from NATO, whose air defense systems still ensure the security of Turkish airspace.
