As Kurdish YPG pour into Syria's Afrin, the elderly and children flee to safety - VIDEO

February 9, 2018 - Fort Russ News - Paul Antonopoulos

AFRIN, Syria - Days ago, over 2,000 Kurdish People's Protection Units (YPG) fighters poured into the Syrian northwest canton of Afrin from eastern Syria to take on Turkish-led forces. The video of this can be found here

With battles set to escalate with the arrival of over 2,000 fresh fighters, civilians have begun leaving en mass from Afrin.

The majority of those leaving are the elderly and children who are being transferred from Afrin to Manbij via Syrian government-held territory.
Turkey launched its Olive Branch Operation against the YPG on January 20, but with nearly three weeks of fighting, they are yet to make any significant advancements.
