The comment has come as the Turkish-military and their proxy forces are preparing to storm the Kurdish-controlled Afrin canton in northern Aleppo countryside.
The Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG) control Afrin canton. The YPG are the Syrian branch of the Turkey-based Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) that Ankara and Washington both consider as terrorist organization. Hypocritically however, the US arms, supports and funds the YPG despite recognizing the PKK as terrorists.
The YPG aim to federalize Syria, while more extreme elements want an independent Kurdistan from areas of northern Syria.
