VIDEO: Ex-communist rebels in Colombia swap weapons for farm tools at rural commune

January 26, 2018 - Fort Russ News - Paul Antonopoulos

AGUA BONITA, Colombia - Nestled in rural southern Colombia lies a small socialist commune populated by former militants of Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC), a Marxist-orientated guerrilla group.

Located in Caqueta Department, deep inside the former war-zone, Agua Bonita is now a picture of peaceful cooperation.

Following a peace deal in 2016, the FARC militants laid down their arms and turned their attention to farming, repair-work and intellectual pursuits, as they seek to integrate into society.

Right-wing militiamen still continue to hunt down and murder former FARC-fighters while receiving little legal action against them by the Colombian state.
