Reports that majority of Turkish-"led" forces operating in Syria's Afrin against Kurdish YPG has few Turks involved

January 30, 2018 - Fort Russ News - Paul Antonopoulos

AFRIN, Syria - With the Turkish-led operation against the Kurdish People's Protection Units (YPG) in Syria's northwest canton of Afrin enters its 10th day of action, a Syrian MP has revealed that a source has notified that very few Turks are involved in these operations.

Fares Shehabi, Syrian MP for Aleppo and Chairman of the Syrian Federation for Industry, stated on his Twitter that "Sources in #Afrin confirm to us that the “Turkish” army consists mainly of jihadi mercenaries from multiple nationalities.. Few Turks are involved."
He did not go onto say what nationalities they comprised of, but Syria has a plethora of jihadist from foreign countries fighting in Syria.

This could explain why the Turkish-led forces has thus far made limited advancements against the YPG in Afrin.
