MAJOR: Protests flood Iran, denounce provocations

January 3, 2018 – Fort Russ News –

TEHRAN, Iran – The “protest crisis” in Iran took another turn today as hundreds of thousands of citizens poured out into the streets of Tehran and cities across the country chanting revolutionary slogans – in support of the 1979 revolution, that is.

The 1979 Iranian Revolution, which established Iran as a fully sovereign state after generations of British-backed puppet governments, still boasts widespread support, as the footage coming in from rallies around the country shows.

In one of Iran’s largest cities, Ahvaz, which was the scene of violent clashes just several days ago, today enormous crowds flooded the city’s iconic White Bridge denouncing foreign intervention and violent destabilization.

The city of Qom also saw significant turnout and was filled with chants denouncing American and Israeli subversion, “seditionist” protesters, and pledges of support for Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei.

Iranian media have reported that these “counter-protests” are decrying the violence seen at anti-government riots that began nearly a week ago and have reportedly resulted in the deaths of 21 people and the arrest of several hundred.

According to RIA Novosti, sources close to the Iranian government and in Tehran courts have revealed that some of those arrested are being tried for espionage on behalf of foreign states, while the rest are set to be released.

The arrested leaders of said protests, relate not to the mainstream economic protests, but instead to the smaller and often violent ‘stunts’, involving dozens of provocateurs at at time. These were carried out separate from the body of the mainstream protests, and bear little to no connection with them. These stunts are of the cookie cutter ‘Color/Spring’ tactic variety. They have little impact inside the country where the discourse takes place, and instead are manufactured to create and distort the perception of these protests, generally in Western countries and gulf monarchies.

The pro-republic counter-protests can also be seen as a demonstrative stand against the foreign meddling, ‘support’ for the recent riots, voiced by foreign leaders and the heads of Soros and US-AID financed NGO’s, such as US President Donald Trump, and Kenneth Roth of Human Rights Watch, and the leaders of extremist groups who have called for a violent coup d’etat.

Just yesterday, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei slammed the smaller and separate stunts, as being provoked by “enemies of Iran”, who “use dirty methods of violence and political infiltration”. Iran’s Interior Minister has suggested that the unrest is already beginning to die down in most of the country.

As Fort Russ’ Joaquin Flores reported in a viral piece from December 30th that has since gone viral, the current “protest crisis” is multifaceted and has been grossly misrepresented my mainstream Western media.

On the one hand, we are dealing with genuine discontent with real social and economic problems manifesting itself in civil society actions that have appeared parallel to the government’s official view on and efforts to resolve economic difficulties.

On the other hand, potential problem-solving is being hindered by targeted destabilization efforts whose “mass protests” are largely a fiction restricted to Western media. Whereas the latter have portrayed recent anti-government protests as a “Green Revolution 2.0,” even the biggest anti-government protests have been smaller than those of 2009.

Judging by Iranian officials’ statements, today’s massive counter-protests, and ongoing de-escalation efforts, Iranians’ genuine protests have not been successfully hijacked by malicious forces, and the anti-government riots denounced by Khomeini are on their way out. In their place, hundreds of thousands of Iranians have demonstrated their stand for sovereignty and constructive solutions.

In effect, Iranians, through protests and counter-protests, are continuing to affirm their Republic’s sovereignty, and address the problems which Western sanctions and color revolution efforts have made a harsh reality of life. This is a thorn in the side of manipulative Western media disinformation.
