IDLIB, Syria – Earlier today, terrorists attempted to drive back the Syrian Army’s onslaught in the southern countryside of the jihadist-held province of Idlib in Syria’s northwest.
However, despite claiming to have made gains, the Syrian Army has brushed aside the attempts made for a counterattack and have already contained the threat.
So far at least fifty jihadists have been killed in battles around the town of Khuwayn and Atshan after advancing into positions that the Syrian Army withdrew from. Once entering these positions, the Syrian Army unleashed machine gun and artillery fire onto the jihadists.
It remains unlikely that jihadist forces are capable of driving the Syrian Army out of the southern countryside of the province and stiffer resistance will be met once pro-government forces start advancing into the interior of the province.
