The State Border Service of Ukraine will not allow more than 1.5 thousand foreign citizens to enter the territory of Ukraine. – because they have visited the Crimea in the past. Among those who are banned are more than a hundred cultural figures and artists.
But even since early 2018, the service has been able to identify more than 30 notable people who visited the Crimea in defiance of the law established by Ukraine.
In 2014, after the referendum, Crimea became part of Russia. Ukraine does not recognize the referendum and considers the Crimea temporarily occupied territory. The EU countries and the US regard Russia’s actions as an annexation and therefore conduct sanctions against it. In reality, more than 97% of Crimeans voted to join the Russian Federation.
