Free Syrian Army fighting the Kurds: "We are sick, tired and not being given food"

January 27, 2018 - Fort Russ News - Paul Antonopoulos

AFRIN, Syria - Turkish-led forces, primarily the Turkish military and its Syrian proxies, have not been able to advance in the past three days in Afrin canton in northwest Syria due to the poor weather conditions and have actually lost some ground to the Kurdish People's Protection Units (YPG). A Russian military expert has discussed the failures of the Turkish-led forces here

However, one aspect he did not cover was the weather conditions turning everything to mud in Afrin as seen in the photos.

A Free Syrian Army (FSA) fighter has told Elizabeth Tsurkov, a Research Fellow at the Israeli Forum for Regional Thinking, they are staying put and waiting for the weather to improve.

However, the FSA fighter also told her that he got very sick and had to leave Afrin.

"If we remain for a week in the cold and under the rain, we'll die of illness. No one cares about us and even where we slept, there were no meals last night. The commanders don't care about our lives," he told her.

He was then later moved to another part of northern Aleppo countryside to recover.

"All the guys [fighters] are in a state of depression, but we have to keep our mouths shut," he said.

When she quizzed why they do not complain about the lack of food and the poor conditions, he responded with "No one listens to us."
