DAMASCUS, Syria – Syrian activists have launched a new campaign to discourage Syrian women from marrying foreign jihadists.
Since the Syrian war began in 2011, over 1,800 Syrian women have married foreign jihadist fighters.
Syria has been flooded with tens of thousands of foreign jihadists, with Russia estimating that at least 30,000 joined ISIS alone, since the war began.
This has changed the demographic face of Syria, and it is difficult to figure out what to do with Syrian women when their foreign husbands are captured or killed. It is for this reason that activists are attempting to discourage Syrian women from marrying foreign jihadists.
