Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has called the event of the 2014 government coup in Ukraine a “European digrace.”
“This Ukrainian history, the history of the coup, is the story of the betrayal of the West in relation to international law. When the agreement that was previously signed by the foreign ministers of the leading countries of the European Union was simply trampled. After that, the European Union began to convince us that it should be so, and that there is nothing to be done now. It is, by and large, a European disgrace,” Lavrov said in an interview with the newspaper Kommersant .
The minister stressed that “by reiterating this historical reality, we illustrate that we want to implement the Minsk agreements.”
