KIEV, Ukraine – Former Georgian President and Odessa Governor, Mikheil Saakashvili, threatened to jump off the roof of his eight floor apartment building in Kiev as Ukrainian Security Services (SBU) raided his apartment as part of a criminal investigation, on Tuesday.
The raid and search of his apartment was conducted in connection with a case launched by the Ukrainian Prosecutor General.
According to Saakashvili’s lawyer Pavel Bogomazov, he has been charged with attempting to oust the Ukrainian authorities.
Saakshavilli became known as he launched the 2008 war against South Ossetia and blamed Russia for the war who intervened to stop a humanitarian catastrophe and protect their citizens.
He then relinquished his Georgian citizenship and became a governor of the Ukraine, aligned with Ukrainian Poroshenko before they fell out and he has his Ukrainian citizenship relinquished.
