The deputy-Prime Minister and the Minister for Sports, Vitaly Mutko, and his family, are under fire for property in their name of almost a billion rubles (17 million USD). A publication has found that the politician and his close relatives own elite real estate in Moscow and St. Petersburg, worth man times their official annual salaries.

According to the information, Mutko’s relatives own two apartments worth more than 200 million rubles in Protopopovsky Lane in Moscow and on Konstantinovsky Prospekt in St. Petersburg. The family also has living space on Lenin Prospects in both cities (each at 15 million rubles), a two-story penthouse at the 7th Soviet in St. Petersburg (80 million rubles), and a plot of 12 thousand square meters in the elite village of Komarovo (about 500 million).

“All the assets are owned by Vitaly Mutko himself, his wife, and daughters Maria and Elena,” the publication noted. “The French Riviera and Italian resorts are favorite places to visit of the family.”

The further career of the main sports official of the country remains in question after Russia was removed from the Olympics 2018 because of the doping scandal. IOC suspended Mutko from the Games for life. On December 7, the official said that he was ready to resign “at any time, if it is for anyone’s benefit.”

It is not stated where a public servant may have obtained such wealth but the insinuation is evident.
