Moscow does not plan on transferring Russian soldiers from Syrian Khmeimim to Egypt, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.
“We have close ties between the militaries, joint exercises are being conducted, and this helps to exchange experience, including the experience that we got in Syria. There are no plans for any transfers of our military to the territory of Egypt from Khmeimim,”- he said.
He recalled that Russia and Egypt had previously signed an agreement on the use of airspace and airfield infrastructure of the Russian Federation and Egypt. The minister described it as technical.
“But (the agreement) reflects the partnership nature of our relations, there are competitive things including free use of airspace of another state, provision of military navigational services, security of parking, etc. That is, it is reciprocal military measures.”
