“China and Russia have a common stance on the Korean Peninsula issue, maintaining contact with each other,” he said.

“Both countries have come up with initiatives to resolve the issue peacefully, putting forward clear and understandable projects, which may help find a way out of the current situation,” the Chinese diplomat added.

“We hope that all the interested parties will adopt a sincere and positive attitude, pooling their efforts to ease tensions on the Korean Peninsula in order to return to the negotiating table as soon as possible,” Geng Shuang stressed.

According to the Chinese Foreign Ministry’s spokesman, the North Korean authorities “fully understand the importance of initiatives aimed at de-escalating the conflict, which were proposed by China and Russia.”
