During the online Q&A conference with residents of the People’s Republic of Donetsk and Ukraine, the head of the Donetsk People’s Republic, Alexander Zakharchenko, answered, perhaps, the main question, which has worried the residents of the long-suffering Donbass for 3.5 years.
Vladimir from the city of Snezhnoe (DPR) asked the head of state when the People’s Democratic Republic will join the Russian Federation? “People after all voted in a referendum for the Crimean scenario!”
Alexander Zakharchenko responded directly and honestly.
“The process of joining the state is a two-way movement. Today neither we nor Russia are ready for this.
Let’s not deceive ourselves. The beginning of such a process would lead to an incredible escalation of international tension. And if we, in a selfish desire to hide under the wing of Great Russia, spit on its own difficulties, then we ourselves are worthless.
In the Donbass, are a proud free people. We have proven this in history many times. And it’s useless to hide under someone else. I am confident that if we change the international layout in favor of Russia, it will offer us options for joint existence. In the meantime, we can fight – and we will fight.”
In the referendum, people voted for the independent status of the Donetsk People’s Republic. And for now we will develop the state in this status. And time will show what happens next. I am confident that the future is not far around the corner” the head of the DPR said.
