By March 2018, the US should propose a scenario for resolving the conflict in the Donbass, which will not suit either Ukraine or Russia. This was stated by a Verkhovna Rada deputy, Viktor Baloga.
“Judging by the efforts made by the Americans to quickly deploy peacekeepers to the region, they will soon want to decide how to end this crisis, probably by March. But this decision will not be a satisfactory one. I am sure that Russia will also be unhappy. We can talk about the specifics when we see the plan – but a bad peace is better than a good war,” Baloga said.
He went on to say that federalization of Ukraine may become a solution to the conflict.
“The Minsk agreements provide for federalization. Today, federalization is also being pondered in Washington, and in Germany, and in Paris. To stop and simply freeze the conflict, is better than war. We will not resolve it by force, and it will not come off the agenda, so long as Washington and the EU are involved parties. ” Baloha said.
We disagree with this statement of the Verkhovna Rada deputy, given Pentagon’s 2018 goals of providing the Ukraine with around $350 million to rearm.
