Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia intend to fight the terrorist group Islamic State in the Middle East. This was announced by Lt. Gen. Jonas Vytautas Zukauskas, commander of the Lithuanian Armed Forces.
“First there was the idea of creating a common squadron, but now the plans have changed a little. One way or another, there will be a general unit, “said Zukauskas.
The head of the Lithuanian Ministry of Defense, Raymundas Caroblis, noted that Lithuania and Latvia will join the unit of special operations forces, and Estonia will provide in another capacity. Sending troops to Iraq is scheduled for early next year.
