Russia’s car market grew by 17.3% in October 2017
A new publication by the Association of European Businesses (AEB) indicates that the Russian car market grew by 17.3% in October 2017.

- In October 2017, the number of passenger cars and light commercial vehicles sold in Russia increased by 21,892 units compared to October 2016.
- In total, an estimated 148,597 cars were sold in October 2017.
- From the beginning of January 2017 to the end of October 2017, an estimated 1,277,938 cars were sold.
JG Schreiber, Chairman of the AEB Auto Committee, commented:
“The recovery in the Russian auto market continued in October with sales exceeding the previous year by a robust 17%. This is the eighth month in a row of annual improvement and the longest period of uninterrupted growth in the passenger car and light commercial vehicle market since 2012.
“Given the current pace of recovery, overall sales in 2017 will have a good chance of returning the market to the level as it was in 2015.”
The strongest car brand in the Russian market in October 2017 is Lada with a growth of 23% to 28,638 units. This is followed by KIA (+16 percent, 17,407 units) and Hyundai (+11 percent, 15,712 units)

Volkswagen: +15 percent to 8,014 units
Mercedes-Benz: +7 percent to 3,214 units

Despite falling Audi sales, the Volkswagen Group grew by 14.4%. But, market share fell by 0.3% to 10.6%.
The Mercedes-Benz Group reports positive growth. Their sales increased 13%. However, the market share fell slightly by 0.1% to 2.7%.
The BMW Group also achieved a strong result, boosting sales by 17.1% in October 2017. BMW Group market share is almost unchanged at 1.8%.
