Backed by the Syrian Air Force, army units continued operations against the remains of ISIS terrorists in the eastern province of Deir Ez Zour.
Throughout the southeastern axis of the province, they were involved in heavy clashes with ISIS terrorists in several neighborhoods in the town of Mahkan, located south of the town Mayadeen, the former ISIS capital, in direction of Abu Kamal, a border town which is the only provincial ISIS hub left remaining.
Dozens of the terrorists were left dead or injured, and a number of their vehicles, some of which were booby-trapped, were destroyed.
Local sources said that ISIS terrorists built barriers on the entrances to the town of Abu Kamal and planted IEDs on the main road leading to town.
In the city of Deir Ez Zour, several air and artillery strikes were carried out against ISIS gatherings and dens in the neighborhoods of Al Hamidiyeh, Al Aridi, Al Mattar Al Qadim, Khassarat, Kannamat and Al Sheikh Yassin, killing scores of the terrorists in the process.
