A respected Syrian General has passed away from an incurable disease.
Brigadier-General Walid Abaza, who played a critical role in subduing the Ikhwan insurgency, passed without the exact reason being explained.
He was a former head of the political security branch in Hama during the Ikhwan insurgency, a Muslim Brotherhood uprising that ended in 1982.
It is expected his burial will be with full honors for service to Syria.
