A new batch of female officers have today graduated from the Military Academy in Syria.

Female soldiers have played a critical role during the Syrian war and are under no obligation to be conscripted.

They have performed most prominently in the eastern city of Deir Ezzor when it was besieged for three years by ISIS.

Woman also played a critical role in the Battle for Aleppo before it was completely liberated in December 2016.
