Lawyers of the Security Service of Ukraine have prepared a bill to limit visits to the Russian Federation for politicians, officials, representatives of local governments, and public figures. This was reported by the SBU press center.
“The draft law, in particular, makes an official criminally liable for visiting the Russian Federation with the aim of causing harm to the national interests of Ukraine,” the report said.
The corresponding article is proposed to be added to the Criminal Code.
“Given the importance of the bill for Ukrainian society, the SBU is open to professional proposals for its improvement before submitting the document, so the prepared draft law is submitted for public discussion,” the SBU stressed.
We note that on September 25 in the Sumy region, law enforcement officers detained the ex-director of the state enterprise “Judicial Systems Information” Bogdanov during an attempt to cross the border with Russia.
Escape to Russia is a salvation for many banned, defrauded, or simply disagreeable Ukrainian officials. Recall that after the tragedy in the House of Trade Unions in Odessa, where 48 people were killed, Fuchegy, ex-deputy chief of the regional Interior Ministry, who was fleeing to Russia, was placed under house arrest on charges of inaction and negligence, but managed to escape.
In March, State Duma deputy Natalia Poklonskaya said that Ukrainian politicians who respect the choice of Crimeans can come to Crimea with an introductory visit. At the same time, Poklonskaya warned that if they are criminals who only cover themselves with a deputy’s ID, they will have to admire not the sights and beauties of the peninsula, but a cell in the detention center.
