The deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Nadezhda Savchenko, stated that she will run for the presidential elections in Ukraine.
“To participate in the presidential campaign, in fact, you need 2.5 million hryvnia ($96,000 USD) to register. The fund is being opened and honestly says: I am collecting money for the presidency”- said Savchenko in an interview with the Ukrainian Internet publication “Glavkom.”
She also confirmed her intention to participate in the elections to the Rada.
“Let’s just say, I would lead my party to them. People who are in power should no longer be there. People who are deputies in at least one convocation should no longer be deputies.” added Savchenko.
Savchenko is a former military pilot and convicted killer of two journalists in the Donbass, who was pardoned and released in exchange for POWs from the Donbass. Since her release, she became a Verkhovna Rada deputy and has spoken out against the oligarchy of the Ukrainian presidency. This lead some Ukrainians to suspect she became a ‘Kremlin agent.’ To the contrary, Savchenko continually voices her dissatisfaction with Russia, but also against the Poroshenko regime.
