Investigators of war crimes at the United Nations said the intensified number of air strikes, conducted by the US-led international “anti-ISIS”, are causing rapid growth in the loss of civilian lives in the Syrian city of Raqqah.

Last week, the Washington-backed “Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF)” launched a campaign to recapture all of Raqqah from the hands of ISIS, a thing that immediately drew an aerial backup support from the US-led coalition forces and which eventually contributed to a great number of civilian casualties, resulting from the airstrikes, launched at the city of Raqqah and the surrounding areas.

Meanwhile, Paulo Pinheiro, Chairman Independent International Commission of Inquiry on the Syrian Arab Republic, keeps accusing both sides of committing war crimes, despite the implemented Russia-brokered “safe zones” memorandum as well as 10 other ceasefire agreements between the Syrian government and the so-called “opposition”.

Although he did not gave particular details in what way the Syrian government is to blame, he kept saying that some of the siege tactics could amount to war crimes, especially as regards the last year’s process of liberating eastern Aleppo.

The Syrian government has been denying such accusations since months ago and has also provided the UN with necessary documentation, regarding last year’s operation in Aleppo.
