Units of the Syrian Army took control of the hills overlooking north-eastern Palmyra, following intense clashes with ISIS terrorists.

The army also foiled an attack by ISIS terrorists on a number of its checkpoints in Al Tafha area, located some 70 km from Homs city in the eastern countryside of Homs province.

Scores of terrorists were killed and two of the machine-gun-equipped vehicles were destroyed, in addition to seizing large quantities of weapons and ammunition, mostly left over by terrorists who managed to flee the assault.

At the moment, the army is inspecting the area for possible booby-trapped vehicles and landmines, planted by ISIS terrorists.
