The Roskongress government initiative will oversee the promotion of Russian products under the brand “Made in Russia” on the foreign market, utilising national and international search engines in 11 languages.
To start off with, it is planned that the directory of websites who sell local goods will be translated into several new languages. For now, most of the major websites are available in Russian, English and Spanish. By the end of this year, the sites will be available Chinese languages and Hindi. In 2018, Portuguese, French, Arabic, Vietnamese, Malaysian and German languages will follow.
The Foundation is working with Google, Yandex and Chinese Baidu.
Roskongress could not state the amount of expenses necessary for the translation and promotion of Russian goods in new languages. However, representatives have stated that the work will be carried out mostly at the expense of companies whose products are represented.
The brand “Made in Russia” was created in 2015 by analogy with other national brands such as Made in Germany, Made in China, etc. Under the brand are numerous electronics products, household chemicals, automobiles, clothing, footwear, cosmetics, food and alcoholic beverages. The logo is issued free of charge to the participating companies and is expected to return profits once it gets under way.
