RIA Novosti – translated by J. Arnoldski –

The G7 countries are ready to strengthen the sanctions imposed on Russia over Ukraine if necessary, the final declaration of the G7 summit has proclaimed.

“Sanctions can be rolled back when Russia meets these commitments. However, we also stand ready to take further restrictive measures in order to increase cost on Russia should its actions so require,” the declaration reads.

The G7 summit just concluded in Taormina, Italy. Its participants all adopted the final declaration.

Like last year, the  G7 summit’s declaration also stated that “the duration of sanctions is clearly linked to Russia’s complete implementation of the Minsk agreements and respect for Ukraine’s sovereignty.”

Moscow has repeatedly rejected accusations of interfering in Ukraine’s affairs. Russia has claimed that it is not a party to the intra-Ukrainian conflict in Donbass nor a subject of the Minsk Agreements in the settlement process.
