Russian Embassy in Damascus

The Russian Embassy in Damascus on Thursday, December 29 has once again been fired on. This is stated in the comments of the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova, posted on the foreign ministry site.

According to her, the shell hit the precinct near the entrance to the Consular Section of the Embassy. It was fired from the area controlled by the militants on the outskirts of Damascus.

The explosion caused minor material damage. No one was injured.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the attack on the diplomatic mission and called the incident unacceptable. “The attempts of extremists to disrupt efforts to ensure the cessation of hostilities in the territory of Syria must cease,” said Zakharova.

Previous Embassy shelling occurred on December 28. Two shells landed on Embassy territory, deactivated by engineers. The Foreign Ministry stated the need for prompt elimination of the terrorists.

The Russian embassy in Damascus has repeatedly been subjected to attacks. In particular, on October 28 two shells were cleared from the territory of the diplomatic mission.
