Talks between Moscow and Minsk on gas prices did not produce results, according to Minister-Counsellor of the Embassy of Belarus in Russia, Yuri Yaroshevich.
“The talks, which were attended by the vice-premiers (Belarus) Vladimir Semashko (Russia) and Arkady Dvorkovich, ended without result could not agree.”, Yaroshevich said.
Minsk has not commented on the progress of negotiations and future plans of the delegation, press-secretary of the Belarusian government Vladislav Sychevich commented to told RIA Novosti .
As previously stated by Semashko, the parties were in Moscow to discuss three possible pricings of gas for Belarus.
The President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said last week that Moscow and Minsk have almost agreed on the Russian gas price and instructed Semashko on September 14th to sign a protocol with Russia.
Minsk and Moscow are negotiating the price of gas for Belarusian consumers. In July, Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak said that the Belarusian debt for gas is 270 million dollars. The debt is not recognized by Belarus, stating that the contract price at 132.77 dollars per thousand cubic meters is not just. Russia insisted that payment should be made at the contract price and to make good on the difference.
According to Dvorkovich, Russia may halve the volume of oil supplies to Belarus in the fourth quarter, if the country will not pay for Russian gas supplies.
