Russia does not intend to enter into any transactions concerning the future of Crimea, as its fate has been determined once and for all. This was stated by first Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on defense and security Frants Klintsevich. He commented on the proposal of some congressmen to link the theme of lifting the sanctions with the status of the Peninsula.

“The offer to “exchange” the lifting of sanctions in return for Crimea, which was made by US congressmen, is a kind of classic display of the view of the American ruling class towards the rest of the world”, – quotes RIA Novosti from the words of Klintsevich.

He added that there is faith in the omnipotence of the sanctions precisely because they are American, and there is an unwillingness to understand that not everything is bought and sold, “and a desire to simultaneously inflate the contract, offering to exchange something that has no price, for a pinch of tobacco”.

Earlier, the US Congress received the proposal for the deletion of “restrictive measures” against Russia if Moscow agrees to “return” Crimea to the control of the Ukrainian authorities.

“Our response to such proposals can only be one. Russia does not intend to enter into any transactions concerning the future of Crimea. Its fate has been determined once and for all,” said the Senator.
