President Petro Poroshenko expressed confidence that in the future, citizens of Ukraine will be present in European institutions, and the Ukrainian language will become one of the official languages of the European Union.
“We all strive to ensure that Ukraine will become a real success story. I am confident that we will succeed. I am sure that one day the best Ukrainian citizens will take their seats in the European Parliament, the European Commission, and the European institutions. This will be the day when Ukraine will take its rightful place among the countries who are members of the EU,” said the President on the occasion of Europe Day on Saturday in Kiev.
The President expressed confidence that the Ukrainian language will become one of the official languages of the European Union, reports “Interfax-Ukraine”.
Also, Poroshenko said that Ukraine on its path to the European Union needs to cope with two challenges: to overcome Russian aggression and to carry out reforms.
“To achieve this goal we need to overcome two key challenges. The first is the effective opposition to Russian aggression, and that is why we in two years, we built with the help of volunteers, volunteers of every Ukrainian citizen, the Ukrainian army”, said Poroshenko.
The second challenge, according to the President, is to conduct key system, all-encompassing reforms.
“Reforms that will change Ukraine and reforms that will build Europe in Ukraine, which will restore justice, which will make Ukraine an extremely efficient government,” he said.
Poroshenko noted that the road map for such reforms is the association agreement between Ukraine and the EU, as well as the action plan on a visa-free regime, which Ukraine has already fulfilled.
“Reform is a change in the Constitution in terms of the rule of law, judicial reform is a step to establish justice. Reform is a powerful anti-corruption effort,” the President said.
