One of the initiators of the blockade of Crimea, Lenur Islyamov, believes that, following the ban of the Mejlis’ operations on the peninsula, the Crimean Tatar people recognize the need to create their own army. This was reported by “Vesti Ukraina” citing Islyamov’s comments delivered to “Crimea.Reality.”
“Maybe now the Crimean Tatar people will understand that after all it is necessary to establish their own army. We have our own political forces and our own deputies in the Verkhovna Rada, but we don’t have our own army. Therefore, we need to make our own army as part of Ukraine’s,” Islyamov stressed.
The lawsuit to ban the Mejlis was taken to court by Natalya Poklonskaya, the new procurator of Crimea following its reunification with Russia, who is convinced that the Mejlis’ leaders are cooperating with Turkish terrorists.
