Ukrainian “punisher” forces have begun forming “human shields” out of cars with peaceful citizens at the checkpoints near Gorlovka in southern Donbass. This was reported by the deputy commander of the corps of the DPR’s Ministry of Defense, Eduard Basurin.

“Under various pretexts, Ukrainian soldiers stationed at checkpoints in the residential areas of Mayorsk and Elenovka are delaying the transfer of civilians across the demarcation line until the evening, thus forming a “human shield” by placing civilian-packed vehicles around their posts,” the representative of the defense department said.

As Basurin explained in a press release to journalists, numerous UAF positions are forming in close proximity to Ukrainian block posts, from which attacks on the frontal zones of the DPR are regularly carried out. “The concentration of civilians allows the Ukrainian side to safely shell the positions of the DPR, knowing that republican forces will not return fire in the case of possibly endangering the civilian population,” Basurin remarked.

We recall that, as earlier reported by the Ministry of Defense of the DPR, over the last week Ukrainian forces have been deployed in the directions of Gorlovka and Mariupol with 60 units of military equipment, including RS30 rocket systems, artillery, tanks, and armored vehicles.
