U.S. President Barack Obama urged Prime Minister Shinzo Abe to cancel his trip to Russia in May, but Abe refused to follow the advice, reported Kyodo agency, citing other sources.

According to the agency, a telephone conversation between Obama and Abe took place on February 9.

“Now is not a good time”, — quotes RIA Novosti the words of Obama, who had advised Abe to postpone the visit to Russia. Sources claim that the Japanese Prime Minister did not budge and the conversation did not bring the desired result.
